If there is more than one rider in a family, how many transponders does one family need?
For Tuesday night MX, transponders can NOT be shared. As of the 2014 MX season, we use a swipe card system that will automatically register each rider and their transponder ID into the appropriate class within the MyLaps scorekeeping system. Each rider requires their own individual transponder.
What if I don't care to be scored, can I pay and ride without a transponder?
No. There are too many safety and scoring concerns with having non-transponder riders running with competing riders. With riders on the track not being scored, the club has no way to determine the following:

What is the cost of the transponder & what is included?
Your personal transponder kit comes with the transponder, mounting bracket, 110v charger, 12v charger that works in your vehicle.
How long does the transponders last? What is the warranty?
Life expectancy is 8 - 10 years. Warranty is 3 years - full replacement for non working items - assuming they are not busted up & broken.
What happens when my subscription ends?
You will no longer be able to charge your transponder until you renew your subscription through the mylaps software that comes with the transponder.
Are Transponders available to rent?
No, OCMC does not not have rental transponders.
What happens if I want to borrow a bike to ride?
Simply use your transponder on any bike. No notification to the score keeper is necessary as the computer is reading the transponder, not the # on the bike.
How long will the battery charge last?
A full charge will last about 7 days. It has a motion detector that turns off when not in use, which extends the charge & the life of the battery.
What happens if I forget my transponder?
Borrow one from someone in a non conflicting class, inform sign in of the temporary change, and pay $10 administration charge.
What happens if I ride without a transponder?
If a rider is caught riding the track without an active transponder, they will be black flagged.
How does the transponders attach to the bike?
You attach a quick mount clip to your fork tube (behind the number plate) with zip ties, then snap the transponder into the quick mount clip & secure with the strap. Note: The transponder comes with one clip. Additional clips can be purchased for $5.
How does the transponder communicate with the scoring computer?
A cable is buried across the finish line and the transponder is recognized from below. Every time you pass the finish line, no matter the number of bikes, you are recorded. This will produce immediate, accurate race results.
Can I use my transponder anywhere else?
Yes, OCMC is moving towards scoring the XC's, ICE and the Six hour with transponders. They are also used at MMRS along with many Amateur events in the U.S., including Loretta Lynn's.
